Sue has worked with a large number of community groups and heritage organisations in Scotland and throughout the UK. From small scale undertakings costing just a few hundred pounds, to large projects with budgets of hundreds of thousands of pounds, the dedication and creativity of organisers and volunteers often amazes her.
Research themes and topics vary enormously, with some organisations exploring social issues such as unemployment, housing, migration, LGBT, sectarianism or education, and others exploring health-related matters such as illness, disability, mental health, carers and respite; other projects have explored changes in traditional industries, a particular business or event, or cultural and/or oral traditions. These are just some of the areas that may be explored using oral history or other qualitative research methodologies.
